 —  —

OLLI (Osher Lifelong Learning Institute) @ Yavapai College, 4215 Arts Village Dr, Room 34, Sedona, AZ 86336

Perhaps you've seen articles about Sedona "Diva" Susannah Martin, announcing her performances in local restaurants and concerts. Perhaps you've had the great pleasure of hearing her sing.

But do you know anything about her as a person, or what her off-stage life is like? Is she swooped to her shows in a stretch limo? Is her closet lined with elegant gowns and shoes? Or does she work long hours just to earn her living?

Curious? Susannah will reveal all as the guest of honor on Wednesday, May 11, from 12:30 – 2:00 pm at the weekly “Lunch & Learn Keynote Speaker Series” sponsored by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) in room 34 of the Sedona campus of Yavapai College. This enjoyable, informative midweek community event is free and open to all.

Find out what motivates her (hint: it's not the big money), how she approaches music, why she chooses Sedona as her home, what it's like to make a living in the "gig economy," and generally what life "backstage" is like within the community of Sedona's performing artists.

For 20+ years, Susannah has delighted audiences with her musical performances at concerts, festivals, clubs and cruise ships. She started voice and music training (at age 10) at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts, continuing through a music degree from Oregon's Willamette University.

Her fluid, sultry voice interprets songs from the jazz, r&b, American standards, rock 'n roll, and Latin repertoire that delight and move her many loyal local fans.

As a teacher, Susannah coaches contemporary a cappella choir, and offers vocal workshops and individual voice lessons.

She also is engaged several other fascinating ventures in her busy life. To learn more about them, join us at the May 11th Sedona OLLI Lunch & Learn program, which is a “town hall” for local residents who want to know the “inside story” and interact with the people doing important and interesting things in our community.

Everyone is welcome and there is no "cover charge." Bring your lunch (or come for complimentary coffee, tea, water, and a little snack), and join in informal conversation at 12:30--or come at 1:00 when the program will begin.

OLLI is a local, volunteer, peer-to-peer, adult education program. Its spring term is about halfway over, but many workshops are still available. The catalogue can be accessed at www.yc.edu/lifelonglearners. For more information about OLLI or the Lunch & Learn program, please call: 928-649-4275.
